Deputy Prime Minister Sophea and Ambassador Murphy Meet to Discuss Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

PHNOM PENH: On 31 August 2023, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received His Excellency W. Patrick Murphy, Ambassador of the United States of America to Cambodia, to discuss important areas of collaboration, poised to strengthen US-Cambodia relations.

Ambassador Murphy congratulated His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea on assuming the role of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Trade and investment, people-to-people ties, health and security within the bilateral framework and international cooperation within the ASEAN and the United Nations frameworks were among the topics discussed. While recognizing differing approaches to some matters, which reflect the nature of international relations, both sides underscored the importance of continuous dialogues and concerted efforts to identify potential areas of cooperation and advance towards mutual goals benefiting the two peoples.
